How to Create Mindfulness in the Work Place You Will Love Everyone

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

Mindfulness at work is ever important, especially in an environment that is mostly chaotic.  We can do  certain things in the workplace to wake us up, inspire us and help us get closer to the lives we want to live and the goals we want to reach, in work and in life.   This holds true for employees in large companies as well as home based entrepreneurs.

How to  Create Mindfulness at Work:

  • Become intentionally aware of what is happening in the moment without judgment.  See things as they are.
  • Mindful emailing can be as simple as drafting a message, taking three mindful breaths, and then re-reading the message from the perspective of the receiver before sending.
  • Before answering a phone or making a call, take a few deep breaths.
  • Before starting a meeting take three mindful breaths or take a few minutes before the meeting to sit with everyone and practice mindfulness meditation together.

  •  Learn how to best cope with difficult colleagues by talking with an expert or attending a seminar.
  • Conduct internal "traffic control" throughout the day.  Check in with yourself.
  • Take a break when you need it.

When there isn't enough mindfulness in the workplace.

Lifestyle Stress Statistics in the Workplace

  • Workplace stress costs the nation more than $300 billion each year in health care, missed work and stress reduction efforts.
  • Stress is responsible for 19 percent of employee absenteeism and 40 percent of employee turnover.
  • Stress is responsible for creating 60 percent of the cost of workplace accidents.
  • Research shows that 60 to 90 percent of doctor visits are stress-related.
  • A landmark 20-year study conducted by the University of London concluded that unmanaged reactions to stress were a more dangerous risk factor for cancer and heart disease than either cigarette smoking or high cholesterol foods.
  • 90 percent of all disease is caused or complicated by stress.

Alleviate Your Stress with EFT and Peak Performance Success Coaching

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

As a normal part of life, stress enables us to get things done. If left unmanaged, stress can lead to emotional, psychological, and even physical problems. Stress causes a disruption in the flow of vital energy through the body. These energetic imbalances can throw off the immune system or cause symptoms of pain, sleep disturbances, abnormal digestion, headaches, menstrual irregularities, aggravation of already troublesome health conditions and, over time, more serious illnesses can develop.

Stress is cumulative.  Stressful situations that last over a long period of time can create an ongoing low-level stress that puts continual pressure on the nervous system, increasing activity, and can cause the overproduction of hormones. The extra stress hormones over an extended period of time may wear out the body's reserves, lead to fatigue, depression, a weakened immune system, and a host of serious physical and psychological ailments.

Some signs of stress overload include:

- anxiety or panic attacks
- feelings of constant pressure, hassled and hurried
- irritability and moodiness
- physical symptoms such as stomach problems, headaches, or even chest pain
- allergic reactions, such as eczema or asthma
- problems sleeping
- overindulgence in food, alcohol, smoking, or drugs
- sadness or depression

Stress is often the cause of illness and the deterioration of health. Finding a release valve for your stress can help you stay healthy. According to research, stress, frustration, and unresolved anger can play an important part in throwing the immune system off and allowing pathogens to affect the body.

Research has shown that EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), meditation and relaxation techniques can reduce stress levels. My private sessions and workshops/trainings integrate these modalities with Peak Performance Success Coaching for your life and career: www.balanceandpower.com

While it isn't always possible to remove the external forces causing stress, the ability to effectively deal with stress is a choice. Take time for yourself to cultivate the energy you need to handle your stress more skillfully and effectively.

If you or someone you know is experiencing stress or a stress related disorder, contact me for more information about how the modalities mentioned in the previous paragraph can help you regain peace of mind and stay healthy.  Schedule an appointment today!  516 623 4353   balanceandpower

R&R for Optimal Efficiency!

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

We can feel more  purposeful, focused and positive about our work by regularly giving ourselves the gift of recreation and relaxation. We may think that we need to stay focused and disciplined until we get the job done, especially if we are working hard on achieving the goals we’ve set for ourselves. While this level of dedication is admirable, it can also sabotage our enjoyment of our work and also the efficiency and accuracy. Choosing to create a state of balance and moderation in our activities will help us enjoy our daily experiences more. This helps us be more focused and productive when we are working. Remember that a rested mind is an efficient mind. Take time to honor your need for fun today, and you will help yourself achieve your goals. A good night’s sleep is also extremely important to attain optimal productivity.

I recently won a great raffle at Yvonne Bisk’s Meet-Up Group in Long Island, NY:  http://www.meetup.com/LongIslandEntrepreneurs/ , the book  “Delivering Happiness” by Tony Hsieh, CEO, Zappos.com. Inc. that happily reading now! Tony is a huge advocate of work-life balance and taking time off to allow the creative juices to work.  Thanks Yvonne, for spreading the good words!

“What, me worry?!?”

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

We know that was Alfred E. Newman from “Mad Magazine” and everyone went around saying it.

The thing is- worrying is an energy vampire- and we are human- so many of us are “worriers” even when we know better.. below are some stats to back that up; did you know that:
40% of worrying is about things that will never happen
30% of worrying is over things that can’t be changed
10% of worrying is over health (which only gets worse when you worry)
We spend 92% of our time and energy worrying about things that:
1. We have no control over
2. We can’t possibly change
3. We have misperceptions about

Worrying is like stepping on the gas pedal while the car is in neutral: we create a lot of noise, use energy and don’t go anywhere! EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) works extraordinarily well to overcome anxiety, fear and worry.  Learn more about EFT: http://www.balanceandpower.com/eft.php and my NEW! Summer Series in Baldwin for July-August and one:one trainings http://www.balanceandpower.com/events.  If you have a group at your location, I will be happy to facilitate there.  I’ve just returned from a wonderful EFT-ADV continuing education training in Nyack, NY, and am excited to share new techniques and reliable tried and true ones!  I know that I’m a “worrier” and that EFT is miraculous!  as are other techniques that I combine with Peak Performance Success Coaching in my venues.
Even if you’ve had worry role models all your life, and/or a genetic predisposition towards anxiety, you can reset your M.O. and create new mind-body patterns with repetition and practice and a good teacher-coach.  It’s never too late!
