A Success Formula that Works!
By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach
Research on this topic also states the following components are crucial for success: 1. Access your Intuition 2. Trust your intuition 3. Communicate assertively 4. Listen well 5. Take action We are all born with intuition so a challenge may be to learn to access that and trust yourself about it!
Personal challenges often arise including negative thinking or simply not trusting "the answers" that come up for you. You may accelerate your learning curve by quieting your mind so that you "hear" or intuit right choices. Develop patience and be aware of not acting "on impulse".
Practice "saying no" to create positive space for yourself and learn how to communicate assertively (not passively or aggressively). Hone your listening skills - to others as well as yourself! And finally, take action when you know the time is right (your intuition will tell you when:)), and without procrastinating- which is always fear based and ditch perfectionism to accomplish something meaningful and "on target."
Anyone with the intention to change and succeed, with guidance can successfully SOAR! with Resilience® I can help you create success and accountability with the success challenges outlined above. How to Make Employees Happy
By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success CoachLately I've been hearing a lot about how to make empoyees happy or "climate control" in the workplace when the topic of managing stress in the workplace comes up. Climate control is more about prevention and creating a productive, creatve haven:
- Creating a great environment that is fun to work in; ie Steve Jobs and also the Tony Hsieh model of Zappos fame, written about in "Delivering Happiness"
- Rewarding employees for superior work
- Giving employees extra training and education: Communication and How to Deal with Difficult People, Maintaining Focus through Chaotic Times and the like.
- Providing space on site to "chill" and a meditation room

Ten tips to create optimal productivity, happiness and confidence!
Since then, I've been asked to expand the tips and to include a few new key word phrases:
"the new normal", "difficult times", "chaos" and a few statements about “Managing with Grace, Style and Integrity in Impossibly Difficult Times,” the title of a panel discussion at an upcoming "Power Breakfast" organized by Long Island Business News.
Here are the original "tips with added text and the inclusion of the above.
1. Listen to and follow your intuition.
During these trying and difficult times it's been shown
that it's often necessary to reprioritize to get best
outcomes. Your intuition is most often correct when
it comes to your life, work and relationships. So even if
it's an inkling feeling - a tiny revelation- take a moment to
recognize that and then move forward.
2. Stay within your integrity- no matter
what.
No reason or person is important enough to ever stray. If you have tried this over the years, whether intentionally or not, then you know it always backfires.
3. Love and laugh!
Both are proven stress reducers. Happiness is contagious - many need more of that now while surrounded by global negativity, difficult times, chaos and immersed in "the new normal".
4. Forgive yourself for mistakes; let go and move on.
Self-forgiveness is essential in order to forgive anyone
else. Forgiveness is essential to let go of anger.
Letting go of anger is essential to be happier. Especially
in "the new normal" this is a no-brainer :).
5. Take time each day to relax, to
dream.
We need our "down" time more than ever now, living in these difficult times. Honor your method of relaxation and allow dreams to surface. Be open to learning additional relaxation techniques and give them a try.. whatever works for you whenever you do it is OK as long as it has no negative effects on health or overlaps with personal or work responsibilities. If things are unmanageable - get help.
6. Be a great listener.
Listening is the most important part of
communication. If you do not understand what is being said,
ask. Listen well and your response will be more on
target.
7. Stay healthy by practicing
extreme self-care. (diet, sleep, exercise, relaxation
techniques).
Stress takes its toll on health and may exacerbate
conditions already in existence. Therefore we need to be
more diligent in this realm in order to "Thrive
Amidst Chaos" (the title of a workshop I co-presented with two
colleagues
recently).
8. Stop procrastinating and take action- move forward or
drop the project.
We all procrastinate; acknowledgement of being in this mode is the firststep in moving forward. All procrastination is fear based and manifests itself through negative statements such as:
"not the right time now"
"why even bother...can happen (worst case scenario)."
Sometimes the act of "non-doing"
is an indication that the idea needs to be tossed.
What holds us back from accomplishing our goals is fear.
- Fear of failure
- Fear of being judged
- Fear of success
- Fear of being controlled
These fears are often caused by deeply routed anxieties. No matter- you can turn it all around with EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques: Meridian Tapping) combined with positive language-visualization reframing and Peak Performance Success Coaching and the intention to do just that!
The following are a few common phrases/excuses people use when
they are procrastinating: The task is:
“too boring”
“too time consuming”
“I just don’t feel like it”
“I just don’t want to”.
The Good news is that EFT ( The Emotional Freedom Technique) is wonderfully successful in reversing procrastination, as usually deeper emotional issues are involved. It is based on the simple statement that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system . It involves tapping on meridian points while making statements about the issue.
Knowing that you are afraid will not magically remove fear or change behavior. You can use The EFT Technique to eradicate the roadblocks of guilt and fear that keep you from moving forward. When you use EFT and stimulate the acupressure points (see chart) the level of serotonin in the brain rises and floods the amygdalia, the section of the brain involved with controlling emotion and fear, and the fear loop is disconnected. Once the brain stops experiencing fear with the proper EFT tapping, set-up phrase (see below examples) and intuitive NLP language guidance from an experienced EFT Practitioner, which I am, you will find that your thoughts and behaviors transform effortlessly.
9. Begin each day with a short meditation positive visualizations of successful outcomes of your goals.
Oh! I am so much a believer in this!
Research has shown fantastic results. It's all up to you -
and your connection to a higher power/the
universe.
10. Believe in yourself and your goals; create
affirmations and post them onto mirrors, in an accessible
notebook and in the car.
I've witnessed amazing escalation in self esteem,
happiness, productivity and success with the implementation of
these tips for my clients.

Happier People Work Harder
By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach
Happier people work
harder. This may seem like a "no-brainer"
to workers, coaches and trainers, yet there is a there is a lot
of work to do in this area. Coaching and mentoring employees on
how to work well as a team is a great place to start. Employees
need to hone better coping skills teams/employees need to hone
better coping skills to help bypass frustrations presented in
our current economy.
Most managers do not understand negative
consequences that limited resources and headcounts have on the
workers' performance, productivity, creativity, commitment and
collegiality. Research in this area has recently been
documented confirming this unfortunate workplace state of
affairs in The New York
Times 9/4: "Do Happier People Work
harder?"
The real time data presented in the study
confirms that workers perform better and work harder
when they are happily engaged in what they
do. The well documented study reveals that
inner work lives- often hidden perceptions, emotions and
motivations that workers experience as they react to their work
days is being compromised due to slashed headcounts and
budgets.
The article states "employees'
apathy and disengagement cost American
business a fortune." With that said,
attitude adjustments must be made since budgetary adjustments
are not happening.

Improve Self-Esteem by Expanding Self Love
By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success CoachIt makes sense, right? However issues may run so deep that the inner critic, the judgemental self takes a high hand leaving self esteem in a lurch. Sometimes it is necessary to abandon old patterns and beliefs, to literally "rewire" ourselves to expand self love and therefore improve self esteem. An added perk is that when you are successful at doing this, loving another unconditionally is possible, even easy! The aura of positive self esteem attracts people to you like a magnet! Sometimes it is necessary to seek a mentor, a guide, a coach, a therapist to assist you in this journey. Below are a few simple steps you can take to improve your self esteem and expand self love. It's worth taking the time and energy when happiness and productivity in all areas of life and work are your goals:
- Develop a stronger respect of your physical self by exercising, eating and sleeping well.
- Be around positive, respectful people. We all "mess up" once in a while; there is no excuse for anyone being disrespectful - negative - acting out in extreme anger most of the time. That person has problems and needs help - do not be a victim of blame and disrespect.
- Count your blessings every day; be grateful.
- There are many circumstances outside of our control. Do not allow them to control you by affecting your mood in extreme ways.
- Everyday, conduct internal "traffic control". Check in with yourself, be quiet and breathe deeply a few times to gently disperse stress and tension in your body.
- Thinking preceeds stress symptoms. Change your thoughts and you can reduce negative stress symptoms!
- Be in nature daily.
- Treat-reward yourself for tasks completed-well done!
- Before sleep, recall all the positive aspects of your day and your feelings connected to each. Notice how your self-esteem is improving, self love is expanding and how you are attracting like people into your life to share this with!

How to Accelerate the Resilience Process
By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success CoachThe dictionary does not tell us how to accelerate the resilience process, it only defines it :
1. “springing back into shape, position, etc. after being stretched, bent or compressed.”
2. “recovering strength, spirits, etc. quickly.”
Being resilient in body, mind and spirit is key to being happy and successful in all areas of life. Emotionally, it’s the opposite of being “stuck in a rut” and it’s about being positive. Physically, it can translate to strength and flexibility. Spiritually it can indicate faith with the ability to maintain hope in tumultuous times. It’s about staying centered and grounded and making “right” choices.
So, you may be asking yourself, how does one maintain emotional-spiritual equilibrium and resiliency when things can be unpredictable and often in crisis mode? How can we accelerate the resilience process? It’s not easy, and takes some work. It’s easy to create positive patterns and habits when life is going smoothly. It can be quite challenging while being swept away by negative forces. A good mentor/coach and practice is important, and the practice will create a “spill-over” effect into life situations.
Many people, including myself, have learned how to be more resilient. There are skill sets of meditation, relaxation breathing, visualization and “tapping” (EFT- Emotional Freedom Techniques) that all add into helping an individual maintain focus and be positive. Exercising, eating healthfully and being in healthy relationships are naturally fortifying. Most people are not born resilient, but do have the capacity to learn how to be this way. Here are a few tips to accelerate the process:
• Think of possibilities from
different perspectives.
• Stop talking in absolutes.
Eliminate the words nothing and never from self
talk.
• Set specific goals that are
attainable.
• When you are feeling down due to
personal circumstances, take stock of your
strengths.
• Lower the stakes, not the
standards: Don’t have your whole life riding on the outcome of
one event
• Savor small triumphs, steps
leading to the bigger picture.
• Set aside self blame and learn
from your mistakes.
• Surround yourself with positive
people
• Do not read, watch or listen to
the news if you become “too upset”.
• Take a few minutes each day to
reflect on your feelings.
• Cultivate generosity and
gratitude.
You are the only one who can
control your attitude. By focusing on what is strong and enduring
and seeing your potential, you can take calculated risks and
overcome challenges. It takes an open, creative mind free from
anxiety to pick up on opportunities. They are out there ready to
be accessed by your positive and resilient radar!
