Do you listen to your gut?

By Nwenna Kai - Vegan Entrepreneur, Author, & Speaker
Do you know the real meaning behind the saying "listen to your gut"?  This saying can mean a lot of things but what it intentionally is saying to you is that your digestive system and all the organs that make up the digestive system; the colon, the intestines, the liver, the kidneys etc (the gut) determines how healthy you really are.

Digestion can take up nearly 70% of the body's energy, however when you are on a mostly raw and living foods diet that energy is being extracted from the enzymes that are still intact in the food as opposed to taking that energy from the body.  Even though our body has a reserve of enzymes in the pancrease, those enzymes deplete themselves with age, toxicity, and stress factors.

Detoxing and cleansing the body are essential tools for your health, the quality of your life, and your longetivity.  How well you digest your food, how many times you eliminate, how toxic your digestive organs are all major factors in the status of your health.  Constipation is said to be the only real disease that exists out here.  In Chinese medicine, constipation is loosely translated as stagnant or blocked energy, so implementing detoxing and cleansing into your own personal healthcare plan is extremely essential to one's health and quality of life.

7 Tips on Transforming Your Eating Habits and Watch Your Body Go From Blah to Wa La

By Nwenna Kai - Vegan Entrepreneur, Author, & Speaker

Changing eating habits means you have to have a different perception around food that what you had before.  First of all food, and I mean real food is what comes out of the ground, off a vine, or out of the ocean in the form of seaweed.  Food is substance.  Anything opposite of that is junk.  Changing eating habits takes work, time, practice, and diligence.  Its difficult to stop eating what you are used to eating out of comfort, boredom, or just ignorance, so here are some tips that will help you to make that transition.

eatinghabits.jpg

1.  If you have given up something in your diet, whether it is sugar, refined grains, or fatty foods, replace it with something healthy. If you have given up white sugar, embrace Mother Nature’s natural sweeteners that she has blessed us with in abundance of. We have agave nectar, maple syrup, honey, stevia, lucuma powder, yacon syrup, etc. Depending on your taste buds, health needs, budget, etc, you have a lot of different sweeteners to choose from.

2Eat more greens. Make it a habit to eat something green everyday or drink something green everyday. Green symbolizes life and healing. You can’t go wrong getting your body more alkaline with greens whether its a green salad, juice, powder, or fruit. Dark leafy greens are essential and they come in kale, collard green, beet greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, etc. Mix them all together to create a rich and appetizing salad or put them through a juicer and add an apple or fresh ginger root to sweeten it a bit.

3. Eat more frequently. Many of us eat 1-3 meals a day and we stuff everything in our mouths at once. Make it a point to eat more frequently but in lesser quantities throughout the day. This balances out your appetite as its harder to get hungry.  It also cuts down on combining the wrong foods, and when you do sit down to eat that family meal together, you are more pleasant, upbeat, and fairly nourished because you’ve been eating all day as opposed to starving yourself throughout the day.

4. Eat foods that you normally would not eat, yet that are good for you. This year I’m branching out and I’m going to dive into more superfoods throughout the year, and more exotic tropical fruits this summer. Usually I stick to very traditional fruits during the summertime which is actually the time that I consume more fruits than vegetables but I’m going to eat more tropical fruits when they are available.

5. Learn how to veganize a meal. I loved how one of my Facebook friends let me know that instead of having a traditional gumbo for the New Year, he decided to make a vegetarian mock version of it. So learn how to make vegetarian, vegan, or raw versions of your favorite meals.

6. Sit down and eat your food. Chew it slowly and take your time. Proper digestion and vibrant and optimal health starts in the colon and with our digestion system. The best way for us to get all the nutrients from the food is to chew it properly and thus promote better digestion.

7. Simplify your eating habits. We are so obsessed with protein and starches that we are programmed to think we are supposed to eat them at every meal. There is nothing wrong with having only a salad for dinner and there is nothing wrong with only having a bowl of berries for breakfast. Give up the idea that your plate should look a certain way. Rely on how you feel after a meal as opposed to what you have been told. Obviously with all the disease and sickness and the failed health care system, something or someone hasn’t always been telling us the truth.

What's so wrong with eating soy?

By Nwenna Kai - Vegan Entrepreneur, Author, & Speaker
95% of the world's soy is a genetically modified product.
Many of the meat substitute products that vegetarians
consume these days comes from the soybean product.
Tofu, tempeh, the veggie burgers, the veggie sausages, etc
are all made from the soybean product.  Many vegetarians
gravitate towards these products because of the meat-like
texture and taste and in our transition from a meat-based
diet to a plant-based diet, we have found that these foods
assist with that transition, however although you might be
eating healthier, you are not necessarily eating a healthy and
balanced diet.

The soybean in its original natural state is a healthy food
in moderation as most beans and legumes are a bit harder
to digest in the body.  However most of the soy products
including soy milk that we are consuming is not made from
soybeans in its original form.

Eating large amounts of soy is known for reducing fertility
in women because of the plant compounds in the product that
mimic estrogen.  It is also known for triggering early puberty
in children, and disrupting the development of fetuses and children.
Most of the infant formula that is made in the U.S. is made from
soy.

Remember soy is a genetically engineered food product that is not
in its natural state.  So be easy on the soy products.

The diet of our ancestors is the best way to eat.  Consuming
vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, sprouted grains, and superfoods
that are organic, in season, and locally grown are the best types
of food for healing and living.

Food Addictions & Cravings That Drive You Crazy

By Nwenna Kai - Vegan Entrepreneur, Author, & Speaker

Most of us will have food addictions and cravings that are not so healthy for our bodies, however if we can minimize them, stop  procrastinating and get over it, tell the truth about it, and deal with them, we could actually heal them in a much lighter way. Some of us are afraid to even tell the truth about what we crave. One of my vegetarian clients just revealed to me that she still has cravings for bacon. I had to laugh and just tell him thank you for telling me the truth.

Here are some common food addictions and food cravings that we have, what they mean, and what you can do about them.

The Bread/Pasta Addiction/Craving
The Metaphysical Meaning
Having bread and pasta addictions from a metaphysical sense means that you are spiritually empty. We use food as a filler for being spiritually empty. Work on your spiritual practices. Fill yourself up with meditation, prayers, and writing gratitude lists. Get present to being empty. Enroll a prayer partner and become a prayer warrior.

Food substitutions - whole grain or wheat pasta and vegetable pastas like zucchini, jicama, beets, carrots, various forms of squash. (You need a spiralizer to make these vegetable pastas). For bread try Manna Bread which is readily available in Whole foods and health food stores.

The Sugar Addiction/Craving
The Metaphysical Meaning
You are missing the sweetness in life. You probably do not have much joy in your life and you probably do not deal with stress too well. Focus on what activity can you do right now that doesn't cost any money or require a lot of time that would feed your joy right NOW. It could be watching a funny movie, talking to a funny friend, watching a goofy YouTube video, or hula hooping with a child.

Food substitutions - agave nectar, maple syrup, honey, stevia, yacon syrup, lucuma powder, and sweet fruits

The Salt Addiction/Craving

The Metaphysical Meaning
You are undernourished and you probably have a feeling of being unappreciated. Craving salt can also mean that you have a thyroid disorder which stems from a mineral deficiency as most table salt lacks minerals. Minerals are in the soil, in the earth and the earth does what for us, She gives, she nurtures, she nourishes us with everything our bodies, minds, and spirits need. So craving salt could mean that you are craving nourishment for your body, mind, and spirit so ask yourself what would nourish you? Reading a book, writing a poem, praying, spending time with family members, etc.

Food substitutions - seaweed, iodine supplements, celtic sea salt, himalayan sea salt, herbamare, etc.

The best thing you can do for food addictions is to detox and cleanse the body regularly by doing herbal detoxes, raw food detoxes, vegetable juice cleanses, etc. The more you cleanse and empty the body, the mind, and the spirit the more you will see how you start to crave the spiritually fulfilling, sweet, yet good salty foods in life and you won't miss the breads, pastas, and artificial sugar and salt.

This is going to be an AMAZING YEAR!

By Nwenna Kai - Vegan Entrepreneur, Author, & Speaker
I don't know how your holiday meal with family and friends was but mine was healthy, full of greens and life, and nourishing for my mind, body, and spirit.  I can't wait until next year and I can't wait until the Motivational Whisperers Millionaire Mindset Challenge.  I have planned a life and diet transformational class for you and I can't wait to share.

Because of the holidays we tend to slip out of our healthy mode because we think why not treat ourselves to something unhealthy but yet it tastes good because of the holidays.  I want to address that thought process in my class because we often think that if something is healthy or good for us, then it won't taste good or feel good or it won't be fun.  We tell ourselves all sorts of stories and these stories can rob us from having more energy  in our lives and less stress so that we can get on with using the natural vitality and radiance to be, do, and have all the wonderful and amazing experiences, opportunities, and resources in our lives.

I am teaching the Detox Your Life to Create more energy and Reduce stress.  The first thought that comes to most people's minds about detoxing and cleansing is that its not fun, its expensive, its scary, its lonely, etc.  Well I will address all of this in the class.

To register for the class visit http://www.motivationalwhisperers.com/motivationalwhisperersmillionairemindsetchallenge.html and use the promo code 101.

Why we need to detox and cleanse?

By Nwenna Kai - Vegan Entrepreneur, Author, & Speaker
The body needs to rest from eating and digesting so much food as it takes up so much of our body's natural energy source and reserves.  And if we are eating what we term as the SAD (Standard American Diet) diet, then detoxing and cleansing is essential in order for our bodies to thrive.

Detoxing and cleansing whether its through an herbal cleanse, a juice cleanse, a raw foods diet, a water fast, colonics, or sweating can produce immeasurable results for the mind, body, and spirit.  Some people notice how much more mentally clearer they can think and therefore produce enormous results in their personal and business lives.  Others notice how much better their digestive systems work after doing a cleanse or detox.  Other benefits include sleeping better, clearer skin, less suseptible to common illnesses like a cold or flu, more energy, a curbed appetite, better vision, an overall general sense of well-being.

7 reasons why we need to detox and cleanse

  • To create a more alkaline eco-system in our bodies in order to eliminate all disease
  • To enjoy more natural energy that the body already generates on its own
  • To relieve and reduce stress in our bodies
  • To gain more mental and emotional clarity when it comes to dealing with out lives
  • Produce enormous results in our business and personal lives
  • Rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit
  • To regenerate the body's cellular structure in order to allow the body to renew itself over and over again

Top 7 Reasons to Detox and Cleanse Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

By Nwenna Kai - Vegan Entrepreneur, Author, & Speaker
I did the Master Cleanse right after the New Year hit and now I'm starting a 7-day juice fresh juice and fruit smoothie feast where I am going to feast on liquids only. Juicing, cleansing, and fasting are ancient spiritual practices that promote healing, wellness, and spiritual transcendence and ascension. All of the ancient teachers practiced fasting in order to heal their bodies and to ascent to higher levels of spirituality.

There are many different types of fasts for many different people, lifestyles, likes, tastes and desires so I encourage you to find one that fits your tastes and just do it. But in the meantime here are some top ten reasons to cleanse and detox your mind, body, and spirit

  • Weight Loss - Weight is nothing but waste in your digestive organs such as the colon or liver. Anytime you do a cleanse or detox of any sort, you are going to shed some pounds. Some will shed more than others. Even though I'm not looking to lose weight, usually when I do a detox I expect to lose about 5-7 pounds, but usually I gain the weight back when I stop doing the detox. The body's intelligence will know how much weight you need to lose or not to lose. Trust me if you are looking to lose weight you will, if you are not looking to lose weight, you will not.
  • More Energy - With all the weight loss, your body naturally will have more physical, mental, and emotional energy. I always notice that I rise earlier, fall asleep better, and sleep less when I detox. The mornings are great for prayer and meditation so this is a wonderful time to really connect with Source and get back to your body's natural energetic rhythms and this consistent practice will really energize you.
  • Clearer Skin - When the body releases toxins within, it shows on the outside. What's going on inside is going on outside so for those who need to have clear, bright, skin that shines, the right herbal detox is a great fit for getting that photogenic skin in gear.
  • More mental and emotional clarity - This is a big One! With all the physical benefits of a detox, there are enormous other benefits as well. When the body is aligned, the mind and spirit become aligned as well. So the mind can deal with more things when it is clear and grounded. I notice how much more emotionally balanced and available I am to myself as well as to others. What can also happen though and for those who are extremely toxic in the body is that you can experience extreme mood swings when detoxing, but whatever emotion you have to detox it has to come to the light to heal so embrace the mood swings, take a nap if need be, journal about it, and keep on your detox. Clarity is a huge gift as it helps us to make better decisions, critically analyze, and otherwise see things that we normally would not see when we are bogged down physically in our bodies.
  • Improved Immune system - After a detox, you will notice how you won't get as sick as much if you also continue to stick to a mostly raw and/or vegan/vegetarian diet that is diverse, nutritional, and full of greens. Or when you do get sick, your body will immediately work to heal itself and it will heal itself quicker. Years ago when I used to detox frequently, I noticed when I did get colds, they might have only lasted for a day. And when I first went raw, I came down with the flu for the first time, but it only lasted for two days. The body's intelligence starts to work overtime as it responds to how you are taking care of it.
  • Better stress management - I don't know if I have more or less stress in my life or if I'm just better at handling it now than I was before. Doing a detox and also maintaining a really healthy diet and exercise program will reduce your unhealthy reactions to stress. Stress is a killer, but if we can learn how to respond to it differently, we can manage our health differently.
  • Spiritual Ascension - When the body is purified and empty, your spirit now has the ability to transform itself without the distraction of toxins. Do not be surprised if your intuitive and psychic muscles start to activate. Cleansing and fasting is practiced all over the world in our churches, our mosques, and our synagogues as ways of purifying our lives and connecting to God more deeply.
