How to forgive yourself and move on...

  4.  Forgive yourself  for mistakes; let go and move on. 

Self-forgiveness is essential in order to forgive anyone else.  Forgiveness is essential to let go of anger.  Letting go of anger is essential to be happier.  Especially in "the new normal" this is a no-brainer :).

Easier said than done?  Try EFT- tapping to forgive yourself- keeping in mind in order to forgive anyone else- even partially (that's OK- forgiveness of others can be a % )- that complete forgiveness of self must come about first. 

 Here is my short self-forgiveness EFT script you can follow along with and place your own words-phrases on the blanks.  I've left you lot's of space for improvision and feel free to add more!  View my short intro EFT video   and find  a helpful a diagram of the tapping points on  EFT web page . 

 First the Set-up Phrase with Karate chop point or the sore spot massage:

 1.  Even though that was such a terrible mishap when I______ at the _______, I fully and deeply love and accept myself.

2.  Even though everyone saw when I _____________, I fully and deeply love and accept myself.

3.  Even though I feel so __________ for having said ______________, I fully and deeply love and accept myself.

 Tapping rounds on all of the points of the short version:

  1. ___________. :(

  2.  _______________!!!!

  3.  how could I ______????

  4.   It's OK

  5.   It worked out.

  6.        ""

  7.  Forgive myself and let go

  8.     ""

 Sit back a few deep breaths to clear your mind.  Feel better?

This is a simple example and is adaptable to many self forgiveness issues.  It's really up to you to have the intention to forgive yourself and move on...

Learn How to Release Fear & Move into Bliss

The world is in chaos.   Lots of fear going around and lots of people not knowing what to do with it.  We need to release fear now so that personal emotional stress melt down to physical and emotional stress - anger out-of-control is derailed..Yesterday felt like the stock market totally crashed-  everyone here in New York was glum and fearful.  This morning was a bit better as the market rallied.  It closed being down almost 500 points again.  I got a call today for my services from HR at a Long Island business.  She said that one of her top execs has workplace violence complaints filed against him and that is an "exploding" issue all around..

 

London streets are heavily patrolled after looting and rioting with the situation having moved to other cities now and the 2012 Olympics in jeopardy.  It kinda feels like post 9/11 to me- especially with my daughter Jess and her husband living in London.  Rationally I know that they are as safe as crossing the street downtown.

 

Yet - being human- and a mom- I have been especially on edge the last few days.  I release fear several times daily with EFT and know this is helping.  That's how come I am sharing my personal script "Release Fear Now" with you and encourage you to substitute your own issues. The EFT meridian tapping points and a beginner EFT demo video on  the EFT page of my website

 

Please note that I use the set-up phrase while rubbing the "sore spot" for this script (located near the collar bone point either side and rub- it feels good :)).   The karate chop set up may be used as effectively.

 

1.  Set Up Phrase:

            -even though I am not coping well with this chaotic world I fully and deeply love and respect myself

            -even though Jessica is safe in London and I am stressing I fully and deeply love and respect myself.

            -even though my other daughter and her boyfriend will be flying there for the weekend and I dont like the idea due to safety concerns,  I choose to release my fear now.

 

2.  Short Version Tapping sequence: several rounds with key phrases using each key phrase thru the entire short version.   You will see that the sequence has several "reminder phrases" that are negative and then switch over to positive statements.  Of course feel free to substitute your own phrases. 

Reminder Phrases:

            -chaotic world

            -out of control

            -looting and rioting

            -police patrols

            -economic crash

            -daughters  safe

            -feel calmer now

            -BE HERE NOW

 

OK- now take a fear-stress release breaths with a big and loud exhale.

Now sit back , close your eyes and visualize something wonderfully relaxing- maybe a favorite vacation spot.  Enjoy that and settle into a relaxed state for a few minutes or longer.

Do you know that no matter what, meridian tapping sends serotonon- a feel good hormone sister to endorphins- to the section of your brain that deals with emotions (amygdala).   Adding words makes tapping extremely effective.  All you need is the intention to release fear now.

How To Deal With Anger Provoking Events

Anger provoking events are all around us; like stress it is in the perception of each individual as to how one responds.  When you get angry, it is beacause an event has provoked your anger.  Everyday events such as these are anger provoking in the moment or because it has reminded you of a similar situation in the past that was anger provoking:

  • Being cut off on the road 
  • Traffic congestion
  • Long waiting in a doctor's office
  • Long lines in the store, post office, bank to wait on
  • Crowded buses and trains
  • Being wrongly accused
  • A friend joking about a sensitive topic
  • Having an untidy roomate or family member
  • Having to clean up someone else's mess
  • Being placed on hold for long periods of time while on the telephone
  • Having difficulty understanding someone on the telephone in customer service
  • Being given wrong directions
  • Having anything stolen from you
  • Rumors spread about you
  • Having a neighbor who plays the stereo too loud, etc.

It is also possible for specific events to touch on sensitive areas in your life.  These "red flags" usually refer to long standing issues that can easily lead to anger.  For example,  even though you may be a good reader as an adult, a childhood slowness sensitivity may be evoked when someone rushes us or becomes impatient re completing an application or form, or when someone calls us "slow" or "stupid".

Transform Procrastination with EFT for Time Management!

I included transform procrastination with EFT module with a (live!) group of graduate students at Stonybrook University in Long Island, New York for a Time Management Seminar- part of my giving back-volunteer work :)

This  got me thinking about how tech savvy most students are , being able to  access information in a flash- and that simple tried and true time/stress management techniques (in addition to inter-personal communication skills) need to be reinforced.  They were "hungry" for this- and totally receptive to EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, originated by Gary Craig; find out more http:www.balanceandpower.com/eft.php).  They left the seminar feeling better about their timelines this month and ready to tackle the procrastination issues.

Another segment of our population that needs extra help now with interpersonal communication and stress/anger management  skills  are returning veterans who are enrolling in colleges across the country with the US government paying the tuition.  I recently attended a conference about this, a  huge eye opener.  Young vets are coming home lacking these skills and entering an uncertain economy, famility shifts and more.
