Can You Change The Worst Habits?

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

The good news is that research has been documenting that anyone who has a strong intention to change a habit or create a new behavioral pattern can do it (short of big physiological challenges such as addictions).

It takes at least 21 days of repetition with no backslide.  If one backslides, then starting from day one is indicated.

So with the above as a premise then coaching becomes even more positive for the coachee!  This is what happens:

  • When someone contacts me for a consult for stress-anger management coaching and sounds motivated (vs. depressed; keep in mind I'm talking about coaching, not therapy) then I am happy to share this research and they are happy get started.
  • Each aha, each positive action becomes part of the bigger success plan.
  • The accountability is both to themselves and to me.  The progress begins with the first conversation when there is motivation involved.
  • When the goals have been reached, the coachee is encouraged too indulge in healthy celebration!

congratul...

Aura Sheilding and Light & Love Emittance

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach
Do you know about Aura Sheilding with Light & Love Emittance?
This is always a powerful practice to set up for yourself, especially while traveling, which I've been doing a lot of recently.  This is the how and what:

  • Center and ground yourself in a quiet place without distractions.   I find "The Mountain Meditation" via Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn, "Wherever You Go, There You Are" to be excellent for this purpose:
    http://www.amazon.com/Wherever-You-There-Are-Mindfulness/dp/1562827693
  • Visualize a white - lavender aura surrounding your body reaching out at least as far around and up as arm's distance.
  • Visualize a stream of light entering your aura from Source above and streaming down into the Earth.

Aura : chakra shape Stock Photo

  • Affirm your energetic shield of protection is with you wherever you go and that you have the ability to renew it whever you choose.
  • Affirm your power to send light-love to whomever comes your way.
  • Keep smiling and enjoy!

Boost Your Self-Esteem, Boost Your Life

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach
I've authored the article below (text only): April Millenium Magazine p.10:
http://issuu.com/millenniummagazineonline/docs/millennium_-_april_2012/1

The concept of expansion works wonderfully with improving self esteem!
Imagine a drop of water (self esteem) expanding into a puddle, then into a
lake!

Pond : Walden Pond

Then imagine yourself standing on the shore, throwing a pebble into
the lake and seeing the expansion of the concentric circles.

Here are some general tips to improve your self esteem. Feel free to adapt:
  • Be kind and helpful. People appreciating you will make you feel better about yourself.
  • List all of your positive traits and characteristics.
  • Expand on the list with details and give a few concrete examples of
  • Read the list out loud often.
  • Create affirmations from the list and attach in places you’re sure to   see them every day.
  • Smile as much as possible even when you don't feel like it. Smiling is great for your mood and it improves your look immensely!
  • Surround yourself with positive people.
  • Exercise and eat well so you feel good about your physical body.
  • Reward yourself each time you reach a goal for improving self-esteem or any other goal that you set for yourself as long as it’s not self destructive like binging on fatty foods.
  • Acknowledge if you’re having difficulty doing any of the above and seek out a life coach.

Misery Loves Company
A big issue that blocks improving self esteem is taking
things "personally" when it’s not indicated, ie: owning someone else's
misplaced anger. Usually the person blaming you is dealing with their own
problem and simply wants company – like misery.
For this reason, make sure to surround yourself with positive people. If you
are living or working with someone negative, try building a "shield" around
yourself. Visualize yourself surrounded by a protective white light energy
that any inappropriate negativity directed at you bounces off.

and leave the scene - physically.
Once physically removed from the situation, take long deep breaths and
reconnect with your affirmations. Breath in through your nose, belly rising
before your chest, say an affirmation or a few key words from it like a
mantra and exhale slowly, releasing any negative energy that may have
touched you. Repeat this until you feel calm, confident and fortified for
whatever lies ahead. You may also do the breath affirmation-release while
walking briskly- which will also work towards improving self-esteem.
Another modality that can release negative energy is Emotional Freedom
Techniques (EFT), an amazing practice based on meridian tapping together
with powerful coaching and specific language.
As with almost any "daunting" task, when you are motivated to succeed and
have the intention to expand and energize your being, improving self-esteem
is easy! When you boost your self esteem, you boost your life as a whole!

How to find your TRUE Bestfriend in Life.

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

We carry within us everything we need to know to make progress on our paths to self-realization. You are the one: The outer world serves as a mirror. All we need to do to see that we already have everything we need is to let go of our belief that we need to seek in order to find.

Most of us know that getting what we want only makes us happy for a moment... We do not have to travel to find it or imagine that it resides only in the body of another. In fact, what the best teachers will do is point out that this very precious elixir is something we already possess.

We can turn to ourselves when  we find ourselves on our path, not knowing which way to turn and wishing for guidance.   When we simply ask, let go, and wait patiently, an answer will come.

The more we practice this and trust this process, the less we will look outside ourselves for teachers and guides for we will have successfully become our own.  Trusting yourself, trusting your intuition paves the way for a life of fearlessness and success.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a magnificant tool to overcome fear about almost anything including fear of self trust which is often veiled as fear of trusting another (the mirror effect) , perhaps fear of intimacy.

Motivation is a Mind and Heart Two Way Street

A big take away affirmationP1000962.JPG  for me while spending a working vacation in Scottsdale presenting  my SOAR! with Resilience™  program at a Leadershop Conference for Special Educators:  Motivation is a mind and heart two way street:  When we share our passion, knowledge and inspiration and the receiver(s) really hears and feels it, we get that back many times over.   My motivational programs are interactive; above we are giving a "silent scream" shout out- visualization or blank ceiling- as we release frustration or anger.

How do You Know if You Feel Fear or is it Your Intuition?

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

I am very intuitive as are many of you reading this article.  When I experience the "chills-tingles" and a feeling that rings true I know it's my intuition- or that something is true...no matter what.

Intuition.jpg

Today a coaching client revealed to me in the first  three minutes that she is "very intuitive" was wondering if her feelings and actions were perhaps fear based; was it fear or intuition that was leading her to feel "compelled" to take some actions that she was not happy about, that she was seeing me today to gain greater insight into and understand if it was fear or intuition that was leading her.

This evening, no coincidence that nothing was "on demand" TV  that I was interested in, so I picked up a professional journal that was on my coffee table all week - "Choice the magazine of professional coaching" ; this issue focusing on "Intuition & Coaching".  One of the many interesting articles written by colleagues pertains to the fear or intuition question.

Now, back to my client.  After discussing her issues and challenges, we decided to "tap" (EFT- Emotional Freedom Techniques) on the issue of feeling compelled to do something that she admittedly felt shame  about - that was clearly giving her anxiety attacks.

When we began, her feeling of distress about this was 10 on a scale of 1-10.  After several rounds of tapping she was down to 5, and saying she was feeling more at ease, relaxed.

In the process, a few core issues revealed themselves - revelations to her and more material for us to work on in 2012.  In the process, I also gave her three medical referrals to holistic doctors.  I used my intuition in facilitating EFT and it guided all my statements and questions, which gave me a greater insight into what my client truly needed.

This of course gave my client a deeper level of understanding and clarity as well, because I  tuned into her through my intuition and not the analytical side of my brain.

Intuition is always the winner - follow your gut - no matter what - trust yourself,  honor your true feelings (emotional and physical) and act on them.

If you need help uncovering your true feelings and direction, I'm available for a complimentary consult via phone or skype.

Alleviate Your Stress with EFT and Peak Performance Success Coaching

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

As a normal part of life, stress enables us to get things done. If left unmanaged, stress can lead to emotional, psychological, and even physical problems. Stress causes a disruption in the flow of vital energy through the body. These energetic imbalances can throw off the immune system or cause symptoms of pain, sleep disturbances, abnormal digestion, headaches, menstrual irregularities, aggravation of already troublesome health conditions and, over time, more serious illnesses can develop.

Stress is cumulative.  Stressful situations that last over a long period of time can create an ongoing low-level stress that puts continual pressure on the nervous system, increasing activity, and can cause the overproduction of hormones. The extra stress hormones over an extended period of time may wear out the body's reserves, lead to fatigue, depression, a weakened immune system, and a host of serious physical and psychological ailments.

Some signs of stress overload include:

- anxiety or panic attacks
- feelings of constant pressure, hassled and hurried
- irritability and moodiness
- physical symptoms such as stomach problems, headaches, or even chest pain
- allergic reactions, such as eczema or asthma
- problems sleeping
- overindulgence in food, alcohol, smoking, or drugs
- sadness or depression

alleviateyour stress.jpg

Stress is often the cause of illness and the deterioration of health. Finding a release valve for your stress can help you stay healthy. According to research, stress, frustration, and unresolved anger can play an important part in throwing the immune system off and allowing pathogens to affect the body.

Research has shown that EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), meditation and relaxation techniques can reduce stress levels. My private sessions and workshops/trainings integrate these modalities with Peak Performance Success Coaching for your life and career: www.balanceandpower.com

While it isn't always possible to remove the external forces causing stress, the ability to effectively deal with stress is a choice. Take time for yourself to cultivate the energy you need to handle your stress more skillfully and effectively.

If you or someone you know is experiencing stress or a stress related disorder, contact me for more information about how the modalities mentioned in the previous paragraph can help you regain peace of mind and stay healthy.  Schedule an appointment today!  516 623 4353   balanceandpower

How to forgive yourself and move on...

By Eileen Lichtenstein - Peak-Performance-Success Coach

"Forgive yourself" makes it to #4 of my top 10 of must do's to enhance confidence and be happier:

"Ten Tips that Build Confidence and Lead to Happiness": http://www.motivationalwhisperers.com/my_profile/blog/852/edit

  4.  Forgive yourself  for mistakes; let go and move on.

Self-forgiveness is essential in order to forgive anyone else.  Forgiveness is essential to let go of anger.  Letting go of anger is essential to be happier.  Especially in "the new normal" this is a no-brainer :).

Easier said than done?  Try EFT- tapping to forgive yourself- keeping in mind in order to forgive anyone else- even partially (that's OK- forgiveness of others can be a % )- that complete forgiveness of self must come about first.

Here is my short self-forgiveness EFT script you can follow along with and place your own words-phrases on the blanks.  I've left you lot's of space for improvision and feel free to add more!  View my short intro EFT video   and find  a helpful a diagram of the tapping points on  EFT web page .

First the Set-up Phrase with Karate chop point or the sore spot massage:

 1.  Even though that was such a terrible mishap when I______ at the _______, I fully and deeply love and accept myself.

2.  Even though everyone saw when I _____________, I fully and deeply love and accept myself.

3.  Even though I feel so __________ for having said ______________, I fully and deeply love and accept myself.

Tapping rounds on all of the points of the short version:

  1. ___________. :(

  2.  _______________!!!!

  3.  how could I ______????

  4.   It's OK

  5.   It worked out.

  6.        ""

  7.  Forgive myself and let go

  8.     ""

Sit back a few deep breaths to clear your mind.  Feel better?

This is a simple example and is adaptable to many self forgiveness issues.  It's really up to you to have the intention to forgive yourself and move on...

As a Certified ADV-EFT practitioner and Certified Anger Management Specialist, I use this amazing technique in my Private Life Coaching Sessions as well as my Anger Management Seminars and Stress Management Seminars with  amazing success! Balance and Power!™ Success Coaching Groups are now being organized throughout the New York Metropolitan Area!

Ten tips to create optimal productivity, happiness and confidence!

Since then, I've been asked to expand the tips and to include a few new key word phrases:

"the new normal",  "difficult times", "chaos"  and  a few statements about “Managing with Grace, Style and Integrity in Impossibly Difficult Times,” the title of a panel discussion at an upcoming "Power Breakfast"  organized by Long Island Business News.

Here are the original "tips with added text and the inclusion of the above.

 1.  Listen to and follow your intuition.

During these trying and difficult times it's been shown that it's often necessary to reprioritize to get best outcomes.   Your intuition is most often correct when it comes to your life, work and relationships.  So even if it's an inkling feeling - a tiny revelation- take a moment to recognize that and then move forward.

2.  Stay within your integrity- no matter what.

No reason or person is important enough to ever stray.  If you have  tried this over the years, whether intentionally or not, then you know it always backfires.

 3.  Love and laugh!

Both are proven stress reducers.  Happiness is contagious - many need more of that now while surrounded by global negativity, difficult times, chaos and immersed in "the new normal".

 4.  Forgive yourself  for mistakes; let go and move on.

Self-forgiveness is essential in order to forgive anyone else.  Forgiveness is essential to let go of anger.  Letting go of anger is essential to be happier.  Especially in "the new normal" this is a no-brainer :).

5.  Take time each day  to relax, to dream.

We need our "down" time more than ever now, living in these difficult times.  Honor your method of relaxation and allow dreams to surface.  Be open to learning additional relaxation techniques and give them a try.. whatever works for you whenever you do it is OK as long as it has no negative effects on health or  overlaps with personal or work responsibilities.  If things are unmanageable - get help.

 6.  Be a great listener.

Listening is the most important part of communication.  If you do not understand what is being said, ask. Listen well and your response will  be more on target.

7.  Stay healthy by practicing extreme self-care. (diet, sleep, exercise, relaxation techniques).

Stress takes its toll on health and may exacerbate conditions already in existence.  Therefore we need to be more diligent in this realm in order to   "Thrive Amidst Chaos" (the title of a workshop I co-presented with two colleagues recently).

8.  Stop procrastinating and take action- move forward or drop the project.

We all procrastinate; acknowledgement of being in this mode is the firststep in moving forward.  All procrastination is fear based and manifests itself through negative statements such as:

"not the right time now"
"why even bother...can happen (worst case scenario)."
 Some
times the act of "non-doing" is an indication that the idea needs to be tossed.

What holds us back from accomplishing our goals is fear.

  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of being judged
  • Fear of success
  • Fear of being controlled

These fears are often caused by deeply routed anxieties.  No matter- you can turn it all around with EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques: Meridian Tapping) combined with positive language-visualization reframing and Peak Performance Success Coaching   and the intention to do just that!

The following are a few common phrases/excuses people use when they are procrastinating: The task is:
“too boring”
“too time consuming”
“I just don’t feel like it”
“I just don’t want to”.

The Good news is that   EFT ( The Emotional Freedom Technique) is wonderfully successful in  reversing procrastination, as usually deeper emotional issues are involved.  It is based on the simple statement that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system . It involves tapping on meridian points while making  statements about the issue.

Knowing that you are afraid will not magically remove fear or change behavior.  You can use The EFT Technique to eradicate the roadblocks of guilt and fear that keep you from moving forward. When you use EFT and stimulate the acupressure points (see chart) the level of serotonin in the brain rises and floods the amygdalia, the section of the brain involved with controlling emotion and fear, and the fear loop is disconnected.  Once the brain stops experiencing fear with the proper EFT tapping, set-up phrase (see below examples) and intuitive NLP language guidance from an experienced EFT Practitioner, which I am, you will find that your thoughts and behaviors transform effortlessly.

9.  Begin each day with a short meditation positive visualizations of successful outcomes of your goals.

Oh! I am so much a believer in this!  Research has shown fantastic results.  It's all up to you - and your connection to a higher power/the universe.

10.  Believe in yourself and your goals; create affirmations and post them onto mirrors, in an accessible notebook and in the car.

I've witnessed amazing escalation in self esteem, happiness, productivity and success with the implementation of these tips for my clients.
