Twitter Marketing can be more powerful than Face Book if you know how to utilize it correctly. I have been a twitter member since 2008.  Before Ashton Kutcher and Lady Gaga made it famous. I recognized right away how valuable twitter can be on so many levels.  I also found out I loved the platform and I took to it right away.

Twitter Marketing Tip #1


The wrong way to market on Twitter: Do not send an auto welcome message. This is overused so much that no one knows if you are a robot or a person.  Your best bet if you want to welcome people is to that

How to turn people off. Asking someone with a auto responder to like your facebook page  or go to your web site, any other place is not effective.  Think about this you don't know this person and instead of saying hi and getting to know you, someone is asking you for a favor without doing anth are giving you  instructions on what you have to do just to meet them.

Most people on Twitter just ignore their DM's because of the auto-message. It's much better to greet new people following you by using the @ sign instead of a DM.

  

Remember Twitter is about a two-way conversation with people so your followers can chime in and can see what you are saying.  If after you have talked to the person and you both know each others names that would be the time to say hey why don't we help each other out.  I will like your page and you like mine.  


This way the person doesn't feel that your intention was only to get a facebook like.  If you offer them something its a win- win and you both feel great about it.  Anything less and you both lose.

How to constructively bond with your followers on Twitter: start with asking them about themselves with a @ sign. 

Look at their web site and at the very least their profile to see who they are.  Everyone has a bio section and can put a link to their web site you want to look at that first. 

 

The people who get my attention are the ones that say I looked at your web site and then ask me a question about it or they took the 15 seconds to glance at my bio so they at least know who they are talk to.   When meeting  someone  on any social network think of it as if you were at a party or social event.  Don't bounce on them right away with a sales pitch, which will leave a negative first impression.  


Take a minute to look at their web site or at least read their bio. Then make your tweet personal this way you stand out right away.  It lets them know that you have a interest in THEM.  That  goes a long way when the majority of people on Twitter  are not doing that.


Success Tip:  Always keep this in mind it's about building relationships.  

 

Twitter Marketing Tip #4



Do not ONLY tweet about your products/services.  Mix it up  you do not want to sound like a one trick pony or a paid pitchman.  Whatever you do, do not tweet the exact same tweet five times in a row.  That spells SPAM. In today's world of so many ad's and spam people are interested in following real people who offer great tips and advice or valuable information regarding their specialty.

 

Success Tip: Not everyone you meet is going to be your client or so it seems. You never know why someone is in your path. There are Joint Ventures, referrals and making some great friends all worthwhile. It's not always about  direct immediate sells.

How do I get more followers that will be interested in my business?  You have to follow people who are interested in what you do and then they will in turn follow back. You can do searches for key words on twitter where it reads search.



If your target market is people interested in success, type that in the search. You can also do a search for what people are talking about that.  If you sell accounting, software you would enter keywords for people who are interested in  accounting software.  You can also do a search for what people are talking about using keywords, tweetskan is the tool that does that. 



Another way to find people to follow on Twitter that has the same interests you do is to use twends Twitter service where you can put in your interests and then you find people that match that.  It's fun I just discovered it and something about seeds, you'll see just check it out. 


It goes against having people follow you because they are truly interested in what you do.  I tried it for ten minutes so I could share with you about it. If you list yourself in the proper category and you do not buy seeds you can find the people that share your interests and they can find you.

Twitter Marketing Tip #6

 

How do people find your area of business? 

Make sure your Bio explains what you do and gives your web site URL.  If you do not have a web site, then link to your face book page or your LinkedIn account.  That is one-way people know you are real. Most fake accounts will not have gone to the trouble of setting up a full-blown Facebook account or they will not have a web site.

Having a detailed Bio also allows for a more targeted following.  People can find you in a search for what you put in your bio so make sure you use every bit of that space and keep in mind what key word someone looking for you would use.

A good idea is to use your title and your tag line just the way you would when writing a article in the bio section. They will also find you for key words that you use when tweeting  instead of tweeting I am glad that went well.  Explain what that is. Example: I am glad my Master Mind Call went so well.


Success Tip: Include your picture. If you don't, it looks like you are half way out the door or you have something to hide. Either way it doesn't work in your favor.

 

Twitter Marketing Tip #7

 

How often should you tweet? If you want to be successful, you will tweet everyday at least three times a day and more if you have something interesting that is worth tweeting.   Spread it out every couple of hours or so. This way you hit all time zones.  

Seven days a week is best if you skip a day then you can put your tweets on autopilot and they will go out automatically.  The problem with  that is your not there to respond.  Too much of that and people will tune you out.

 

 

Clutter Tip: Clean house and delete all the accounts that aren't active anymore. There are a number of services out there the one active so you can delete people who haven't' used their twitter account in a month or more.  

 

 Another great free Twitter Service that will show you who isn't following you, how popular the people are you follow and even how active they are. It's really one of the coolest sites and it even includes what accounts haven't been active for months or years. Managefilter.Com                                                                                                               

Before you, Unfollow people that you just followed give them a chance to follow you back.  At least wait a week before unfollowing someone. 

 

Twitter Marketing Tip #8

 

How to get on peoples lists and why does that matter? The list is a important place to be, why?  I have heard people say how can work this with so many followers.  Lists that is how. People put the people that give the most valuable information in lists and title it that way.  You can now use that as a form of testimonials that 800+ people on twitter are calling you a influencer or top expert in...  That is something people will find when they search for you.   
 

Offer  regular daily tips or great updates that are interesting and relate to your industry.
 

They also give you a list and option to unfollow all the people that aren't following you.  If you do use that option, remember to give people at least a week to find the time to follow back.  If you want to create your own lists but would like to automate it a good service is Formulists.Com

Twitter Marketing Tip #9


Why Following  back can make you a success on Twitter or break it.  If you think people, don't care that you're not following them back ,stop and ask yourself,  do I care?  See I told you.  We are all people of course we care.  How else are you going to have a two-way conversation and get to know people if you don't follow them too?  

When you don't follow back,  it tells people right away that you're not interested in really getting to know anyone.  When you see celebrities do this that is because can you imagine following back 3 million people. 


Some of the more engaging celebrities will follow some of their fans back.  Unless the whole world knows you and your that type of famous not just famous in your niche then follow back the people who have the same interests as you do. 

 

You can learn from following your target audience.  You will hear what they need what bothers them how they market.  Some of your followers may even inspire you.  You won't find out this beneficial information if your too busy trying to look famous.  You're not fooling anyone.


Twitter Marketing Tip #10


How to get people to Retweet you. Tweet things that make people feel good, motivate or inspire.
Help tweets where you explain how to use the latest feature of something popular on face book or twitter or Google.  For twitter, there are hundreds of applications that other people have made that make twitter even more fun. Here is a list of the top twitter applications. 


You can tweet  them  one at time if you like plus using them will help you with many of the things I have been sharing with you.  When you get Retweets that means someone is giving you credit for saying something but they are also saying I like it.  All of these will get you Retweets.

 

If you post something and you, get no Retweets what is that telling you?  One of a number of things may be happening.  You need more followers who care about what you have to say. People that are following you don't agree. 

You're not on enough peoples lists.  Everyone you follow is famous and wouldn't dream of Retweeting anyone else.  It's normal if it happens once in awhile, it may be that you're tweeting at a peek time or a dead time.

There are times when the percentages for getting Retweet are up.  In the afternoon people seem to respond and Retweet more than in the morning. The weekends are also good for Retweet to go up.  I think that is because less people are using twitter and your tweets stand out.   

   

One Retweet in this case might get you noticed but two or more get your remembered.  I know if someone starts to Retweet me a lot they stand out. No matter how busy I am when I see the same person Retweeting me every day I look to see who they are and what can I do for them.  Every time I end up getting to know that person.  Why because they didn't ask me for anything, they gave to me over and over and that would get anyone's attention.   
   

 

Twitter Marketing Tip # 11


Retweet and support other people on twitter.  This is good for you in three important ways.  It allows you to offer great tweets to your followers without having to come up with something amazing to say all the time.  It encourages others to Retweet what you are doing as well.  In addition, it brings you to the attention of someone who does have a high number of followers because a Retweet is the highest compliment you can give on twitter. 


Twitter Marketing Tip # 12

Some of the unique and successful ways I have marketed on Twitter:  Find new Interesting ways to engage your followers. I had a twitter contest.

That was very successful and I met many people and at the same time introduced tons of people to my web site and my service just by having the contest on my web site. Look and you will see what I did for that contest. It ran about three weeks.

 I threw a twitter party one night at 5:00 PM great time to catch all of the  US.  I announced it that same day very impromptu and as more people came they starting tweeting it and before you know it everyone wanted to be a part of it.  We all talked to each other and introduced people that we thought would be great connections and had a great time.  I ended up meeting and getting to know many of my followers not to mention I had a blast.

 

Have a question and answer survey about something that would make a great article for your web site and then include the people who participated with their twitter URL and when you post the article make sure you let all the people that are in it know so they can tweet it too.  You will get lots of attention because each one of those people will Retweet it once you tell them they are on it.

 

Share when you are doing something unique and talk about lessons learned or new ideas that worked for you because of your experience those types' tweets are very interesting and valuable to your followers. 


 Write blogs that include other people, they will help you tweet your blog  to everyone. You can do a Top Experts list then so you get your website invloved you post the results to you blog.  This is the best way to get traffic to your blog or site from any networking site.  You have offered value at every end of thje deal.  
The people you put on your list get noticed and have braging rights and the readers get valueabloe tips and meet pelike  mend ed [ewititynit into a blog and post to your web site.   Find the people that  you feel offer the most value and tweet them the blog. They will help you get it out

 

There are many more ways you can successfully do twitter Marketing but most of all think outside of the box. Find your own unique voice and use twitter to engage  all the new  friends and people you are about to meet.  There are some wonderful people on twitter and them waiting to get to know you.
